Bernard Dumont is Research Director at Irstea, Aix en Provence, France. His research interests and fields of expertise include: hydroecology; macroinvertebrates and the functioning of running waters; lotic ecosystems; project feasibility, goal setting and evaluating management actions. He specialises in the aquatic macroinvertebrate taxa known as PET (Plecoptera, Trichoptera and Ephemeroptera), including the mayfly Baetis spp. He is a member of several Scientific Committees, including the Natural Heritage Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Mercantour National Park, Alpilles and Préalpes d’Azur Regional Parks, and the Toulon harbour Bay Contract. He has also conducted ecological, hydro-morphological and physicochemical risk assessments on the modification of flow regimes and water diversions in rivers throughout France.
